(03/21/2011)A fun weekend in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. A 16km long trek up to the dizzy heights of 4200ms and the Sun Gate in Ollantaytambo. "Into Punku" in Quechua.
An incredible walk from 2800 MASL to 4200MASl, through an ancient Inca quarry and burial ground. Yes we did see mummies.
T'ika Treks administrator from Cachiccata took us for a hike in the community reserve where we got to see old mill stones, lots of enermous carved stones and mummies.
Can you believe that the INC - National Institute of Culture does not have a guard here. Such a shame as we found a newly looted area.
Later today we will let you know how you too can visit.
