Taking the road from Cusco and following the Sacred river commonly known as the Urubamba we travel back in time to the Citadel, one of the modern wonders of the world Machu Picchu.

Day 1. Mountains and Valleys
With an early departure we take our transport from the navel of the world to the town of Ollantaytambo where we will stop for breakfast before a visit to the living inka town, where we have the chance to take photographs of the everyday living before visiting the spectacular archaeological site that dominates the background.
From here we ascend to the Malaga pass at the dizzy height of 4400ms and the spectacular view of the mountain Veronica and the Urubamba river.
Continuing our journey downwards through the cloud forest to the small jungle town of Santa Maria where we will turn off for la Playa and our campsite for the night.

Day 2. First View of Machu Picchu
Day 2. Today we begin our trek from La Playa (1800ms) to the Inka site of LlaqtaPata (High town) at a height of 2400ms and our first glimpse of Machu Picchu. From here it is all downhill to the hydro electric plant that provides energy to all of Cusco and parts of Puno and is also the local train station. Here we take the short trip to Aguas Calientes and our base for Machu Picchu. Here we spend the night in a hotel. Total walking time approx. 6 hours.

Day 3. Machu Picchu
Our day begins with breakfast at 5am to give us plenty of time to enjoy the Inca citadel. After a 2 hour standard tour your guide is available to take you to some of the other interesting points within the vast site, such as the Sun Gate, Inka Bridge, The Temple of the Moon, or Huayna Picchu or ask your guide for some other options.
All our guides are proficient in flora, fauna and if you require we have a resident expert in orchids of Machu Picchu and the surrounding area.
After lunch we take the return train to Ollantaytambo and from there by bus back to Cuzco. B, L.
