Salkantay 5 Day Trek
Day 1. Cusco to Mollepata,Soraypampa and Salkantaypampa
Today is an easy day to get us used to the altitude. We take our private transport from Cusco to the town of mollepata, the last town on the way to the mountain. here we will have breakfast before continuing in our vehicle to the place called Soraypampa. Here we will meet our horses and wranglers and we will begin our short trek of approximately 90 mins to our campsite at Salkantaypampa.
Day 2. Salkantaypampa to Andenes
Today we ascend to the high pass at 4600ms. The most difficult day on the trek but also the most remarkable.
This is a specatacular day as we pass the impressive peak of Salkantay at 6260ms. After the pass we continue on approx 2 hours to our lunch spot at Wayraqmachay, where we will have a short rest.
After lunch we continue downhill to Andenes where we will set up camp for the night.
Day 3. Andenes to La Playa
A most delightful day of trekking down the eastern slope of the Andes to the village of La Playa. We will travel downhill all day through the outskirts of the jungle where there are hummingbirds, butterflies, coffee and cocoa.
The hiking is much easier at this lower altitude and the heat higher. For those that want a cold beer awaits at the end of the day.

After a short tour of the side we continue down to the Hidro Electric plant and our train to Machu Picchu town where we will stay the night in a small hotel.
