Singing with Stones
A 21 day tour in Peru wIth Sound therapist and Healer Jaqui Smith. Focusing on the spiritual places in Southern Peru we will visit Machu Picchu among others on our adventure.
With a start in Lima we will jump on the plane to the city of Puerto Maldonado deep in the jungle where we will take a motorized boat into the forest where we will spend 3 nights in a rustic lodge beside the Tambopata river.
From here we hit Cusco and all the sites that you have heard about in the area. Spending 6 days in and around Cusco we visit Ollantaytambo, The salt Mines, Maras Moray and of course Machu Picchu where we have 2 days.
One of the highlights of the trip is our continuation from Machu Picchu to Huancacalle and the White Rock. Known as Yurak Rumi in the native Quechua language.
From here a visit to the delightful coffee town of Quillabamba and a visit to Espiritu Pampa “The Plane of Ghosts” where we get to visit the recently discovered sit of the Sr de Vilcabamba.
We will return to Cusco via the picturesque weaving town of Lares and the opportunity of some R and R before returning to Cusco were we have a free day to buy presents and a farewell dinner before a short flight to Lima and home.
Singing with Stones
Day 1. Arrival Day Lima
Today we arrive in Lima for the first day of our adventue in Peru. On arrival to the airport we will transfer to our hotel in Miraflores.

Day 2. Tour of Lima
Tour of Lima, National Museum, San Francisco church and Water Park. Today a tour of Lima where we have the opportunity to visit the National Museum with its wonderful exhibition about the Shining Path. Also a visit to the catacombs before finally visiting the Fountain Park with its spectacular display of water set to music.

Day 3. To the jungle
Flight to Puerto Maldonado.
Reception at the airport and transfer to PS’s office. From where we will continue in our bus to the dock located in the native community “Infierno” from where we will board our canoe and start a one and a half hour journey to the Explorer`s Inn lodge. During the trip we will have lunch on board (Box Lunch) and will also have the opportunity to see caimans, turtles, capybaras, etc. At arrival we will be received with a welcome drink. After resting a little while we will do a short night hike where we will be able to see some nocturnal animals of the rainforest. . Back at the lodge we will have dinner with our experienced guide and some of the RNs who will be available to answer any of our questions or brief us about the Amazon rainforest and the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 4. Otters in the Jungle
To see the giant otters we will have to get up very early and walk with our guide approx. 5 ½ kmts. to Cocococha oxbow lake. On the way we will have the opportunity to observe plants, exotic insects, colorful butterflies, birds, monkeys and, with a bit of luck, perhaps even see some of the large mammals. After arriving to the lake we will hide in a strategic hiding place and will wait the otters to appear to be observed. While waiting we will take the chance to have a refreshment. Afterwards canoes will be available for us to go for a short ride around the lake watching the wildlife on the shoreline. Back in the lodge we will probably have a late lunch and also have the afternoon free for relaxing or doing independent activities for those who wish to do them. Before the sun sets we will do with our guide a short afternoon walk to the Sunset Point and watch the beautiful Amazon rainforest sunset. After the sun sets we will board the canoes once again to look for and watch caimans with torches.

Day 5. Optional Shaman Day
Today we have the opportunity to try the herbal medicine that is Ayahuasca. Known across the world for its healing properties this fabulous vine can show you things you never knew. For more info please contact info@tikatrek.com

Day 6. To Cusco the capital of the Incas
With an early rise and a goodbye to the jungle we take our motor boat back to Puerto Maldonado and our onward flight to Cusco and a free afternoon.

Day 7. To the Sacred Valley
Visit to Sacred valley of the Incas. Spending the morning in the town of Chicheros where the local ladies can teach us about natural dyes they use to make textiles.
After lunch visit to the experimental farming rings in Moray

Day 8. Salineras and singing
Visit to Salineras. The stunning scenery in these salt mines is just part of the charm, where people are still harvesting salt by hand and taking it out using donkeys. Afternoon free. Stay at Kúchi Rumi.

Day 9. Ollantaytambo and Cacchicata
Visit to Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is a living Inca town below the impressive ruins of the temple and fortress. Lunch in Cachiccata community. Afternoon visit to the Community Farms.

Day 10. Machu Picchu
Early train to Machu Picchu. Beginning with a 3 hour tour of Machu Picchu visiting the more well known architecturally significant areas of the site. After lunch your guide is available to visit other areas of the place, however if you want you can enjoy the afternoon on your own.

Day 11. Another day in Machu Picchu
Today we visit the less visited areas of the site, depending on your requirements you can visit the Temple of the Moon, Huayna Picchu, The Sun Gate, the Inka Bridge or have your guide take you around the main city. Lunch is in the Tree house in Aguas Calientes. Night in Aguas.

Day 12. Huancacalle
Early train to Santa Teresa. And onward transport to Huancacalle. Night in hostal.

Day 13. The White Rock
After breakfast we make our way to The White Rock and Vitcos. Both impressive sights here in the Vilcabamba mountain range. We spend out morning walking in the area where a local Inti Raymi is held every year.. Night in Huancacalle.

Day 14. Quillabamba
Transport to Quillabamba, the journey is about 2 hours through coffee and avocado plantations. Afternoon in and around the Olympic swimming pool. Night in Quillabamba.

Day 15. To Espiritu Pampa
Transport to Chuanquiri where the road turns off into the jungle and our campsite for the night.

Day 16. Espiritu Pampa
Morning visit to Espiritu Pampa. El Sr de Vilcabamba was discovered last year 2010 by the INC team headed by Jose Fonseco Santa Cruz in the Espiritu Pampa site located north of Cusco. The discovery was presented in the Casa Garlisao in Cusco on the 24th of February 2011.
The discovery changes what we have believed of both the Inca and Wari empires. Our trip will take you through the history of these wonderful places.

Day 17. Hot Springs and Textiles
A long day of car travel to take us back up to the altitude of 3200ms and the beautiful hot springs of Lares.

Day in Lares. We can walk, talk it easy in the hot springs or go to a local inca village that has wonderful textiles.

Drive back to Cusco through the Andes where the small children are playing all the way up the mountain.
