Medical Campaign June 9th 2012
The first of our twice yearly medical and dental campaigns in Peru. We will be hitting the town of Cocha Moco in Qéros where people live and work at 4400ms. We are looking for qualified doctors, nurses and dentists as well as students in the same fields. Come help us.
Medical Campaign June 9th 2012
Day 1. To Cusco
Today we arrive to Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire. Here after being installed in our hotel we have a short city tour where you can visit the local market and the fabulous Inca Museum. In the evening we have a welcome dinner where we will explain al ittle more about our upcoming volunteer work.

Day 2. To Ocongate and the mountains
We have the morning free to prepare us for our trip to the mountains. Here we can do some last minute shopping. We will board our private car at approx 1pm for our trip to the town of Ancassi where we will camp for the night.
The town is the last before the uphill to Cocha Moco and the last to have electricity.

Day 3. Cocha Moco
We have a strenuous day as our trek takes us to the height of 4800ms at the pass. Our walk is 15kms in toal with the majority being along the valley floor before our one and a half hour climb to the pass and down the following valley to Cocha Moco.
Here we will set up camp outside the local village school. Kusi Coyllor.

Day 4. Day One of our Mountain Clinic
Today we will rise early to begin our clinic to the population of Cocha Moco. With the population being approx 250 people the main problems that we have seen over our years of running these campaigns are UTI´s, parasites and respiratory illnesses. Our clinic will run from 7.30am till approx 7pm.

Day 5. Mountain Clinic Day 2
In addition to the regular clinic that we run we also do house calls. Not your normal jump in a car but we have to walk between the houses with torches, past the alpacas that are home for the night. Our clinic will run until 7pm.

Day 6. Back to Civilisation
today we depart the friendly town of Cocha Moco back upto the pass and down the valley to Ancassi. We will board our private transport back to the Sacred Valley in preparation for our trip to Machu Picchu.

Day 7. An early rise and off to Machu Picchu
Today we take the train from Ollantaytambo to the station at Aguas Calientes where we will take a short bus drive to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
We have an extensive tour of the Wonder of the World and then a celebratory lunch in the Machu Picchu Sanctuary hotel that looks over Machu Picchu.
In the afternoon we take a return train back to Ollantaytambo and then private bus back to Cusco.

Day 8. Free morning in Cusco and flight back to Lima
Today we have the morning free to enjoy Cusco before boarding our one hour flight to Lima for our international connection.
